About Xsightn Photography:

Xsightn Photography is a Nigeria based fashion, wedding and lifestyle photography outfit. We love to think our approach to wedding photography is both fresh and urban. We pride ourselves of being one of the top wedding photographers in Nigeria, shooting high-end weddings for Nigerian couples based outside Nigeria. In 2010 we were privileged to shoot weddings for Nigerian brides based in the USA, UK, South Africa, Canada and Cameroon . While I started off shooting weddings, I have discovered a brand new love for fashion photography. "I love the fact that i am a wedding photographer and I feel so incredibly lucky to be able to capture and document, the memories, love, look and the happiness in my work" "I approach my wedding photography in a way that leads to an intimate and artful expression resulting in images that reflect your unique personality, capturing the natural mood of the day that will be cherished in your family for years to come." Kayode(the lead photographer) started his career in IT before training under some of the world's best known photographers. Throughout his photography career, Xsightn has developed a unique style of creating timeless imagery. He draws inspiration for everything around him, from movies and television, to literary figures and, of course, journalism. Nigerian Weddings : What happens to the remaining pictures

    Sunday, May 16th, 2010

So what happens to those wedding pictures that never make it to the final album ?

As a wedding photographer i usually average about 2500 pictures a wedding. after culling and editing i get maybe 200 images to fit into the wedding album and load a couple of hundreds more into the slideshow they get in HD format at the end of the day. I try to keep this minimal, so as not to get the collection too cramped up.

All my couples also get a jpeg cd/dvd with the same images on them, which brings me to my question, what happens to those numerous images that aren’t fit for prime time? What happens to those underexposed images,  those blurred images or those wedding pictures we feel as photographers shouldn’t be seen by the public.

To all the photographers based out there, both in Nigeria and internationally, how do you handle this images, when we shoot weddings, what happens to those pictures the couple never gets to see? Shouldn’t they  ?

Something in me always wants to give out all the pictures because in my opinion, they all represent a moment in their lives, which they will never be able to get back or see again.

I know professional photographers prefer to only show their good pictures, this i fully understand but as wedding photographers, should this bind us as well?

Shouldn’t the number of the great images in the album be enough to assure the couple that we are still amazing photographers when they see the not so great ones?

Just my views let me know what you think.

Attached are some pictures of a Saxophone player i met at a recent wedding in Nigeria, his name is Olasax and he’s such an amazing talent.

    Nigerian Wedding April 2010

    Tuesday, April 27th, 2010

Been working on quite a number of Albums and haven’t had the time to actually update anything in a while. Here’s a peek into a Nigerian wedding i shot recently, April to be precise, the picture shows a Nigerian bride and groom on the dance floor, i killed all the colour to reduce the distractions and focus attention on the couple, this picture is beautiful and truely shows the emotions that flows between both couple on such a wonderful day.

TRADITIONAL NIGERIAN WEDDING – THE ONE WITH FUNKE AND SEUN – TOWFAS – PREVIEW

As usual, am always so excited when am working on a new wedding. This particular wedding is very important to me because while i shot the elder sister’s wedding in December 2008, i got to shoot her in December 2009, talk about family business.
The wedding itself was well planned so i totally enjoyed myself (there was the horrible experience of misplacing one of my empty compact flash cards though). I shot over 6000 images all raw at both the wedding and engagement. It was one of the most beautiful weddings i ever photographed in Nigeria as a photographer, not just because of the location and decorations but because of the bride and groom themselves, you could see this two were in love. They couldn’t help holding hands and whispering into each other’s eyes and giggling, if only all Nigerian weddings could be like this.
Now, i said i shot of 6,000 images in raw format, on my amazing Nikon D700 camera, that comes to a whopping 75GB of pictures.

With my combination of Apple’s new 8 Core Mac Pro and my Drobo S, i ate through 6,000 images like paper.
Below is one of the pictures i got while the bride was getting ready for the traditional Nigerian wedding. Hope you all like it.
