About Xsightn Photography:

Xsightn Photography is a Nigeria based fashion, wedding and lifestyle photography outfit. We love to think our approach to wedding photography is both fresh and urban. We pride ourselves of being one of the top wedding photographers in Nigeria, shooting high-end weddings for Nigerian couples based outside Nigeria. In 2010 we were privileged to shoot weddings for Nigerian brides based in the USA, UK, South Africa, Canada and Cameroon . While I started off shooting weddings, I have discovered a brand new love for fashion photography. "I love the fact that i am a wedding photographer and I feel so incredibly lucky to be able to capture and document, the memories, love, look and the happiness in my work" "I approach my wedding photography in a way that leads to an intimate and artful expression resulting in images that reflect your unique personality, capturing the natural mood of the day that will be cherished in your family for years to come." Kayode(the lead photographer) started his career in IT before training under some of the world's best known photographers. Throughout his photography career, Xsightn has developed a unique style of creating timeless imagery. He draws inspiration for everything around him, from movies and television, to literary figures and, of course, journalism. The Traditional Yoruba Wedding of Bukky and Lekan

    Wednesday, January 30th, 2013

Here are pictures from one of the last Nigerian weddings we covered in 2012. The couple are from the Yourba tribe in Nigeria and thus had a very traditional Yoruba wedding.

Both based in the UK, Bukola and Lekan came back home to tie knots. The wedding was indeed very colourful as you will see from the images. It was a special wedding for me to cover as the bride is friends with my wife and it was through this union we landed the gig.

One of the cool things about this wedding was that I knew alot of the guest, at a point I handed my camera to one of the guest so I could get in the picture too, you will find that image down there somewhere. I shot this wedding with very minimum gear and had to do a lot of “moving back” to get my images.

Here are some of the images from the Nigerian Traditional Yourba Wedding (that’s a mouth full) of Bukola and Lekan Shiwoku.

Nothing as good as waking up in the morning and the very first call you receive is from a total stranger who really likes your work.

Because of my online presence I am fortunate to receive numerous emails from fans and buddying photographers who simply want to say nice work or just rub minds.

I missed a call on my phone this morning and decided to call back, the person on the other side introduced himself as a pastor and that he was calling from Ondo state.

He wanted me to know he had been on my website for the past 6 hours eating through my blog posts. He couldn’t stop showering me with praises and I felt really honored.

He went on to ask me to drop the call so he could call back (So that I wouldn’t finish my credit, I think, which was really thoughtful of  him). He called back and spent the next 15mins praying for me, I mean it was really strange and I have had the shivers all day. It was really intense prayers o, the type that combines english with yoruba.

I am only a photographer and to be getting the sort of attention I get at times is really nothing short of amazing.

I was just wanted to use this blog post not to talk photography but to thank God for my life, my family and my business and to bless all you guys out there. I pray all your heart’s desire will be met in Jesus name, Amen.

My name is Kayode, I am a leading wedding photographer based in Lagos, Nigeria.

    WEDDING UPDATES

    Monday, March 12th, 2012

I am currently in the UAE attending a series of workshops, ranging from wedding photography to commercial advertising photography as well as food photography.

I have had the distinct honour of being in the presence of the world’s best photographers for the last 7 days and it has been magic all the way. I have been in the presence of such esteemed photographers such as Gregory Hiesler, Joe Mcnally, Louis Pang, Martin Prihoda, Steve Simon, David Tejada, Bobbi Lane, David Hobby and the magnificent David Burrnet. For the last 7 days I have also had the pleasure of networking with photographers from countries such as South Africa, Oman, Australia, New Zealand, New York, Russia, Malaysia, Turkey, lebanon, India to mention a few, the learnings from these alone has been priceless.

As a photographer despite my “crazy” schedule I really had to make time out to update myself and I think every Nigerian photographer should do this. I am always on the look out for trainings that will add value to me and to my clients.

I will tell you all about the workshops as soon as I get back to Lagos, Nigeria but in the interim, here are a few images from my wedding photography workshops that’s got me all excited. Am off to Abu Dhabi tomorrow to see the town icon smile WEDDING UPDATES

    Happy New Wedding Year !!!

    Monday, January 2nd, 2012

    Happy New Year everybody!!!!

2011 was a pretty impressive year for our wedding photography business as we continue to win our way into the hearts of many Nigerian brides. We want to say a big thank you to everyone that was part of the whole Xsightn experience and we promise to continue to exceed your expectations.

For 2012, I am praying to shoot in new markets such as Kenya, Angola and the middle east, so if you know someone getting married in those locations be sure to reach out to me.

One of the most symbolic things that happened to me personally in 2011, was the acquisition of my Nikon D3s camera. For me this is the perfect fusion of form and performance. This camera already has began to take my photography to a whole new level, I am treading in paths, I would never have dreamt of in the past thanks to the amazing craftsmanship of the great guys in Nikon. These days I am just as comfortable shooting at iso 6400 as I am at iso 200. I really cannot wait to open the 2012 wedding season shooting with this wonderful camera.

One of my mentors, Steve Jobs also passed away after a very long fight with cancer, he was an inspiration and I “gulped up” every single word he uttered. Steve Jobs is regarded by many as the man who has made the biggest impact on technology in the last decade or so.

I promise to try my very best to keep this blog as recent as possible so you all stay tuned.

And because a picture is worth a thousand words, here is a picture from a Nigerian wedding album I am currently working on.
