About Xsightn Photography:

Xsightn Photography is a Nigeria based fashion, wedding and lifestyle photography outfit. We love to think our approach to wedding photography is both fresh and urban. We pride ourselves of being one of the top wedding photographers in Nigeria, shooting high-end weddings for Nigerian couples based outside Nigeria. In 2010 we were privileged to shoot weddings for Nigerian brides based in the USA, UK, South Africa, Canada and Cameroon . While I started off shooting weddings, I have discovered a brand new love for fashion photography. "I love the fact that i am a wedding photographer and I feel so incredibly lucky to be able to capture and document, the memories, love, look and the happiness in my work" "I approach my wedding photography in a way that leads to an intimate and artful expression resulting in images that reflect your unique personality, capturing the natural mood of the day that will be cherished in your family for years to come." Kayode(the lead photographer) started his career in IT before training under some of the world's best known photographers. Throughout his photography career, Xsightn has developed a unique style of creating timeless imagery. He draws inspiration for everything around him, from movies and television, to literary figures and, of course, journalism. Nigeria Model Photoshoot

    Saturday, January 9th, 2010

I worked with some gorgeous models a few months back and the brief then was to do something different. So i asked for their current portfolio and one thing was standard on all their pictures (all 100 + of them), they were all done in the studio. Now don’t get me wrong, i have nothing against studio photography, i just prefer to do mine on the streets, outdoor, it just tends to feel and look more “real” at the end of the day.(All our pre-wedding shoot is done on the streets as well).

So off we went with a couple of small strobes and basic light modifiers and this is what we came off with.

Making friends with your wedding couple

    Tuesday, January 5th, 2010

I try to approach wedding photography from a slightly different angle when I shoot a new couple. Very important to me is becoming friends with the bride and the groom, this is probably as important to be as getting the job in the first.

Standard is the pre-wedding shoot which allows me to bond with my new couple, it gives them the opportunity to be comfortable with my shooting style and also for me to fully get their trust. The pre-wedding shoot gives us a lot of bonding time, allowing them to access my character and get to know me a lot better.

Asides from the pre-wedding shoot which is pretty much standard with all Xsightn wedding packages, I also ensure I get to meet and hangout with them at least twice before the big day, during this period we not only talk about the coming wedding but also other stuff, how they met, what movies they enjoy, fun stuff really. Trust me when I say this bonding works wonders for my photography.

From the moment they see me on the day of the wedding I can see the relaxation in them; I always get a friendly hug from the bride. When you shoot a wedding in Nigeria, you can be sure you won’t be the only photographer covering the event, if you are lucky you will probably just get 2 other photographers, not to mention the video guys and their “halogen lights” (It’s standard practice in Nigeria for parents of the couple to also get their own photographers and video guys to cover the day). So there is always a lot to contend with. It becomes a battle of the strongest, if you are not fast and strong, you will lose the shot, at the end of the day it usually balls down to just getting “a” shot , rather than getting “the” shot.

“The” shot is what Xsightn is all about, this is were being friends with the couple begins to pay up really quickly, they always acknowledge your camera and you always get your shots. When the posed shots are composed, they are always looking out for your camera. When they smile towards you, the smile always feels more genuine. Why am I writing this now? Well am actually chatting with a bride I shot that year on google talk right now and she and her husband want to host me to lunch or dinner one of these days. It’s important we remain friends after the wedding too. I love what I do (wedding photography) and wouldn’t change it for the world

Hmmmmm, i know this post might be a bit vain but come on guys, its a new year, its great to start on a positive note.

We hold a lot of our success in 2009 to social media, we embraced it and boy did it deliver. This morning i just wanted to quickly share some nice words about our photography that we received from some “solid” Nigerians who specialize in new media, whom we have been fortunate to work with recently.

We thank you all for your kind words and will continue to do the best to up our standards.

“When it comes to technical dexterity, IT-savviness and creativity in photography, think OluKayode! Xsightn is the new Uber-cool in photography, and OluKayode has shown that freezing moments-in-time, and showcasing life as an art form goes beyond the click of the camera. His portfolio smacks of constant inno’vention’, and the smart use of digital media application to bring to life the subjects of his lens focus. If you want cool pictures, based on solid digital and technical footprints – Think Smart. Think Xsightn Photography.”

“OluKayode discovered photography as another creative side of himself beyond I.T and has embraced it so well and so quickly he has moved from novice to devoted and experienced student in a very short time. This shows in his work, very adventurous and engaging. Happy, always seeking the inner poise within his subjects. No wonder he has secured collaborations with renowned photographers like Emma Ologeh. That is a clear testament to how good OluKayode is today. Xsightn Photography is a solid place to get your wedding and event photography done in a fresh new way.”
